About This Webinar

This October, the AFT Book Club welcomes back award-winning author Jason Reynolds, in conversation with AFT President Randi Weingarten. Reynolds was the #1 Share My Lesson webinar of 2024, and he returns for another powerful and inspiring evening.

Reynolds—known for his captivating, lyrical storytelling—has become one of the most celebrated voices in young adult and middle grade literature. His books, including Stamped: Racism, Antiracism, and You (with Ibram X. Kendi), Ghost, and Long Way Down, spark honest conversations about race, identity, justice, and the power of words.

Together, Weingarten and Reynolds will explore themes at the heart of his work—truth-telling, empathy, and hope—and how educators and families can use literature to engage students in critical thinking and self-discovery.

This event is also part of StoryCorps’ Great Thanksgiving Listen, a national movement to record and preserve intergenerational stories. Don’t miss this opportunity to connect storytelling, classroom practice, and civic engagement.

Join us for an engaging discussion filled with storytelling, reflection and inspiration for the classroom and beyond.
