About This Webinar

This session will introduce STEM educators to the power of short films for classroom learning by highlighting resources for the short film The Crisis Scientists. The Crisis Scientists is an insightful short documentary film highlighting how people with different expertise are tackling the climate crisis. The film features lead authors from the 2023 IPCC Climate Change report who express the importance of taking action and encouraging activism in efforts to share knowledge of the impact of climate change on humanity.

This session will not only highlight the value of this particular film and show the resources available for it, which can be used as a handout and/or Google Slideshow, but will also offer educators insights and tools for using short films in their STEM learning environments and present media literacy techniques for STEM classrooms, which is important given that many states are now requiring media literacy across all subjects.

The workshop will highlight opportunities for civic engagement for students as well as education regarding the environmental issues and challenges facing the world today. This is a hands-on experience featuring tangible materials that can immediately be used in the classroom by educators in attendance.

This webinar is most appropriate for High School and Early Higher Education.

This webinar is part of Share My Lesson's 2025 Virtual Conference! View all sessions here.
