From the intro:
"DEAR WRITER
What if you had ten minutes to say whatever you wanted about gun violence?
From shooter drills at school to sirens on your street to new hashtags on social, the threat of gun violence is all around, every day. But how often do you get to talk about it? How often do you really feel heard?
We know you have to think about it. Now we’re asking you to speak on it.
We’re asking you to write a play around 10 minutes long that confronts the issue of gun violence.
There are lots of stats. But what the world really needs is stories. Your stories.
The theatre is the place where stories come to life, in three dimensions and in real time, in front of real people. The stage is where we act out–where we literally rehearse–possibilities. “What could happen if…?” “How would it feel like when…?” Those possibilities, those questions, are powerful. They put you the writer in the driver’s seat, envisioning futures, identifying problems, dreaming up solutions. They put the audience in the role of participant, witnessing, processing, feeling, experiencing your point of view in vivid, transformative ways.
Theatre creates community. Theatre creates change. We need both to tackle this enormous, ongoing tragedy. And we need you to add your voice.
So…what if you had ten minutes to say whatever you wanted about gun violence?"
What if you had ten minutes to change the world
